Every time I change my Icon pack, upon applying it, I hear the Windows error beep and Icon packager locks up. If I open Task Manager, it is at %49 of CPU usage. I have to kill it there and notice after that , that it doesn't apply all sections checked. Mainly Quick Launch....Any ideas? I have already unistalled and reinstalled through SDC. I am using version 3.10.102(x86)

I never heard of those two running 'applications'.....besides Icon Developer, you don't have any other icon apps installed (something like Microangelo), do you? If you think it's the download complete sound, try disabling your internet connection and see if you can force an error. This is beginning to sound like something really ugly......

By chance, did you happen to un-check that in IP config and try it? The Control Panel option would also be worth trying.

Yes and yes.

I think this all started when I installed Internet Ex. 7 in safe mode, didn't like it, and then uninstalled....just a gut feeling

Trend Micro 2005

Trend should be OK.......someday you'll have to explain to me why you would install an MS app in safe mode.

I guess it would be too much to expect that perhaps you have a restore point prior to the IE7 'install'...

because it wouldn't install normally....

I'm sure there is a restore point to go back too. I'm not sure I want to go back that far and then have to reinstall things from then. I think I will live with it for now. I really appreciate all your help.....

That's right up there with; "...because I can"....
Actually, that would be a perfectly good solution for any program, except Microsoft. Whenever you install an MS app in safe mode and then boot up, it always seems to suddenly go stupid(er)....

I think that IE7 (as you suspected) is the culprit and if everything else is working fine...I'd probably let it be too.

I really appreciate all your help

You're welcome
